At one time, Snow Spire was the abode of the Snowmonger, a powerful and eccentric sorcerer who sought to unlock the secrets of eternal life by studying the cold and the creatures that live in it. To that end, he gathered a menagerie of various creatures known for surviving intense cold as objects for study. Nobody is sure whether the eternal blizzard of ice and snow that hangs about Snow Spire was the work of the Snowmonger, or a surviving remnant of Hillock Hills' once frozen climate, but for whatever reason, the tower remains now in the centre of its own blizzard, only accessible from underground via the twilight highway. Though still intact, possibly due to some protective magic, the tower has long been abandoned, the Snowmonger's animals now escaped from their cages running free through its frozen halls. Some even believe the Snowmonger himself might still be alive, though since few have ever dared to brave the giants and fierce beasts which haunt the tower's upper regions, nobody knows for sure.
