Subject: Releasing Chicks

Releasing chicks now gives diminishing returns the more you release in a short period of time. Each release reduces the experience gained by 200, down to a minimum of 200xp base experience per chick. Experience recovers at a rate of 200xp per 30 minutes since your last release, so the longer you wait between releases the more you'll earn, up to the original maximum of 4000xp. Player home nesting box containers now have a max capacity of 30 each, an increase of +20 eggs. So you should be able to place eggs in multiple containers for other characters in your account. You may need to create a new nesting box to take advantage of this update (I have not tested that). As with any new feature, the numbers on this are a starting point and may be tweaked as we see how it plays out. But I believe this was the missing piece to make this work how I initially intended it to. If you find any bugs or anything that can be abused please let me know on the bugs forum, thank you!

* All bosses now have the ability to struggle out of grapple and vine bind. * Simplified the paint mixing process. Now you type 'mix <color> paint (<amount>)', for example 'mix purple paint' to create purple paint. (Mitsuru) * I added some new code to the game which should stop the quiet disconnects that have been happening when you go idle. I'd like to do some more testing but over the course of the last day, I haven't been disconnected on the test port so we may be able to remove the keepalive toggle. For those of you using that toggle, if you could please disable it and see if you stay connected, that would be great!
Subject: Blessing of Kextra

Just one update and a few bugfixes came in with this copyover: * Blessing of Kextra skill experience now displays a separate line when you gain experience, clearly showing how much additional experience it grants. Previously, the bonus was applied behind the scenes and was not reflected in the cap command, which could be confusing.

* The Sniper ambush skill can now shoot long distance. Syntax: ambush <target> (<direction>). I also boosted the damage by another +50% so now it deals double a normal hit. (ChocoBoom) * You can now craft cotton bandages treated with tannin. Apply these to yourself or others for some hp/mana healing and a temporary hp/mana regeneration boost. Crafting pilgrimages may ask for this item. Hopefully this will be useful, or at least fun! Feedback welcome. (Thile) * Symbol of Sleep will now show up under support spells when you use the pet info command if your pet casts this (for example the dream witch pet). Also the witch pet frog will now show "stun" under the adverse section in the pet info. * Added a sound for heating up water while crafting. * The race stat command has been updated to support sorting by multiple stats instead of just one. You can now enter more than one stat, such as 'race stat int wis' or 'race stat dex con', and the results will be sorted by the combined total of those stats. This makes it easier to find races that are well-balanced for specific builds rather than optimized for a single stat. The race stat display has also been updated to show a combined score so you can quickly compare options. The same functionality has been added to the website's stat sorter, which now allows selecting multiple stats and will sort races using the same combined approach. (Valerian)

* The struggle skill can now be used to struggle out of a vine bind. (Thile) * The friends list will now show a player's account id so you can send friends a tell using the account id which will route the tell to whichever character they are currently online with. The account id will not work if you are not friends with the player. (Valerian) * The mortar object can now hold 200kg, so you should be able to put large fish in there and crush them up. (Raining) * The stats on Luck of the Draw item have been boosted, and added magic and damage roll. (Kaeldrys) * The level suggestion on missions is now a requirement, so if a mission is level 10 you must be at least level 10 to start it. We may need to adjust some of the levels on missions if there are any issues. * The 'race change' command now requires you to type out the race name exactly so hopefully this will ensure no accidental race changes. (I decided against a confirmation argument because then the race name would need to be inside parentheses if it's more than one word.) (Kaeldrys) * Spirit Magnet will now tell you the amount of mana healed. (Kaeldrys) * You can now salvage equipment crafted by other characters on your account. (Bryar) * Eggs now take 3 hours to hatch with a chicken in the room, and releasing chicks rewards slightly less experience (4000 instead of 5000). The eggs sold in shops are now around 10k gold. * The command "farm eggs" will now tell you the location of your eggs and any hatched chicks. Also added a new reminder "eggs" which is an account wide toggle that will remind you where your eggs/chicks are. (Anatak) * Mobs that are being grappled can no longer teleport you away.

The thing the Gnomish merchant guild fears most is thievery; well other than competition and rules about trading standards. Still, being the highly successful; or at least highly avaricious, collection of traders that they are, the guild merchants do attract the wrong sort of attention from particularly skilled criminals. Metriana, the guild's representative in merchant's market place, has got wind that a particularly cunning group of thieves, the Violet gang, have chosen the market place for their next heist. Ten accomplished thieves, each with specialities in charm, sleight of hand, and disguise, not to mention their leader, the mysterious violet lynx. Fortunately, metriana has procured some shackles of incarceration, simply slap these magical handcuffs onto the wrists of a thief to send them on a one way trip to the guild's dungeon. Locating the thieves amidst the market's crowd of patrons however, is easier said than done. Any adventurers with a mind to play detective, should talk to Metriana in the market place to learn more. Since the intention here is to arrest the thieves rather than kill them, those adventurers following the path of peace may also undertake this mission, just so long as they have a keen eye for detail and a good mind for clues. Much thanks to Aelyn for the coding which brings this group of miscreants to the game.

* Death guard and feign death will now work for permadeath characters. * The spy subclass copycat skill can now copy subclass skills as a way to make it more powerful than the temporary version of copycat. (Fiji) * The mudpie command "mudpie aura" can now be used to create a fake aura that appears before your name in the room. * When you collect eggs, the message will now tell you how many eggs are in the cluster beneath the chicken. (Noire) * New weekly challenge: release 40 chicks into the wild! (Kaiya) * The max number of wins that you can get with well travelled mudder has been increased from 3 to 10. (Kaiya) * Elemental enchantment is now permanent on items once fully mastered and can be recast when needed. (Ulf) * Elemental infusion is also now permanent once mastered and items can be reinfused when desired. (Ulf) * The mission 'Trials of the adventurer' which is required to join the faith of Lucius can now be completed by pacifists. (Astoria) * Psionicist spells are now unaffected by the silence spell. (Sugrill) * The demon from the summon demon spell has been given second and third attack as well as critical strike. (Krahgan) * The barbaric appetite skill is now a race skill for Troll and hatchling and all of their evolutions. The barbarian subclass has been given a new level 1 skill: Rage. * Added a list of pacifist activities that reward experience and other currencies to the guide page 27. Thanks to Ulf for the help in compiling this! * The id of a newly created player home mob is now shown right when you create the mob so you no longer have to identify it. (Katenka) * You can now crush multiples of the same gem level and type (up to 5 at a time) to create powder. (Sireyeh) * The duration of the buff that you get from sapping gems can now be affected by spell duration multipliers. (Kaeldrys) * Without the farming skill, you can place up to 10 eggs in a public nesting box or and another 10 in player home nesting boxes. With a fully mastered farming skill, you can place up to 30 eggs in player home nesting boxes. * A short new mission has been added to Wayside Farm: Raising a new flock. Given by Thatcher.

* Fervor of Aelyn now splits the bonus between both skill and spell damage multiplier, giving each 10%. (Palau) * Hands of the dead spell now has a optional cancel argument if you want to purge all of the hands you've created. (Kaeldrys) * You can now fertilize all seeds/sprouts at once with the command 'fertilize all'. I also added an all option for worm, weed, water. (Tarik) * Onions, nuts, cabbage, and so forth were given randomized costs, so that's why they were not stacking in the vault/player shops. All food from foraging in the future will have the same cost so they will stack. * The dispel magic spell now only strips buffs. (Kaiya) * Kextra is continuing to work hard on a seasonal halloween area, and I made an update to costumes - if you add a custom description to a costume, others will see that description if they look at you while you are wearing the costume :). * Just in time for Easter! New craftable: nesting box. If you put eggs inside a nesting box that's been bolted, they will hatch into tiny chicks over time. These chicks can be released into the wild for experience and feathers of liberation. I hope this will be a nice new way for pacifists to gain experience! Also, 3 new achievements added for hatching chicks! I will be adding nesting boxes around the game that can be used by anyone and a nesting box mission in the Wayside Farm area coming soon. * A couple of bugs have been fixed with adding/removing potions to/from player shops (it would sometimes add or remove a boosted flag). There was also a bug that was blocking some sigils from stacking if they had enchant sigil on them, that's also been fixed. * Achievement 182 "You Shall Not Pass" can now be unlocked when you are top ranked on a seasonal leaderboard when the seasonal leaderboards reset. * Crushing fish now yields chum based on total weight: 5 lbs = 1 chum, devoted fisherman skill rewards double (5 lbs = 2 chum). (Sugrill) * You can now set deep water as a player home room sector. (Ralnath) * The monthly random rewards that give the experience and quest point boost will now show up in your effects as house xp/qp blessing. Please log out and in to receive them, and after that it should be automated. (Kaeldrys) * For those of you who unlocked the top 10 seasonal achievement, it unlocked it for the wrong season so that has been fixed, and your achievement should reflect this.

* Crafting soap no longer requires a steel mold. Instead, you carve rock with a chisel to make your mold. (Sireyeh) * The mission that rewards copycat now rewards it for 3 weeks instead of 3 days. * Added an achievement for fully mastering farming (id 318). (Miriam) * The card inventory is now account wide (all cards from all characters in your account have been added to the account wide card inventory). The scrabble inventory is also now account wide! (Katenka) * The card inventory will now have another category called custom. This will be a category for cards that do not fit into any of the suits. New cards will be coming in the month of May during an Erion anniversary event!

* New spell: Luminatus. This spell may be found as an occasional event or mission reward in the future. While active, this spell allows the questor to complete up to ten quests back-to-back, bypassing the usual cooldowns. Each time you request a quest while a cooldown is active, one of the spell's ten cooldown skips is used. * New skill: farming. Acquired in Wayside Farm. All farming-related activities can be performed without the skill. However, having the skill reduces the time it takes to milk cows and shear sheep. Once mastered, it also allows you to collect an extra egg from chickens and an extra ball of wool when shearing sheep. The farming skill improves by performing farming activities such as milking cows, collecting eggs, and similar tasks. * New item type: pumpkin seeds and pumpkins. Pumpkin seeds are a seasonal item that can be found in October and for part of November while foraging. I'm making this announcement now so I don't forget this fall :D. * New syntax: carve <pumpkin> <description>. Pumpkins can be carved to add a custom description at no cost. The description will use the pumpkin's current keywords. If you later change the pumpkin's keywords with the restring command, you may carve the pumpkin again for free to update the description. Re-carving will replace the existing description. In player homes, carved pumpkins may be bolted to the room. You can store a pumpkin using the home pack command when the season ends, and retrieve it later with home unpack. * Some halloween/fall events will be coded in the future involving pumpkins :)

* The first Erion fiction has been submitted and is up on the website - Thanks Darmok! "Darmok: The Molting" at https://www.erionmud.com/darmok.php * New player home command: home obj <id> pack/unpack. If you have items such as seasonal decorations that you don't want to delete but only use part of the year, you can pack them away for a cost of 20,000 gold. Packing an item removes it from the room without deleting it, allowing you to unpack it later for free. You can pack up to 10 items at a time. Note that containers cannot be packed. * Expedition/junkyard cooldown is now based on the size of the expedition (small = 15 minutes, medium = 20 minutes, large = 25). * Seeds have been renamed to sprouts to make room for non magical seeds that can be planted in the future. If you have any objects in player shops or your inventory with the keyword seed, placing them in the crafting inventory will rename it to a sprout. You may see the word germ or germlings used in help files and such now. This is the word that I use to refer to anything that can be planted. The syntaxes where you would use the word seed, you now use the word sprout. The skill seed salvager has been renamed to sprout salvager. Help files and the website refer to germ, germlings and sprouts. If you notice anything that I've missed, please let me know! * New item type: cottonseed. You can find cottonseeds while foraging and plant them in a garden. Once they grow into cotton plants, you can harvest them for cotton balls. They will yield 5 cotton balls or 7 with pious gardener. In order for the item type cotton to not clash with cottonseed in the crafting inventory, "craft inventory get cotton" will only get cotton balls. In order to get cottonseed you will need to enter "cottons" at minimum for it to match with cottonseed, ie "craft inventory get cottons". You can set cottonseed as your desired boon if you wish. Cottonseeds behave the same way as magic sprouts in that they need to be fertilized and watered, and they take the same amount of time to be ready for harvest. (Miriam)

Added new sounds for this event (finding a balloon, popping a balloon). New item extra flag: Keepsake (these items cannot be restrung. They can be bolted to a player home room). New achievement for popping a balloon of every color! Thanks to Cortheus for this fun idea :) * Added the syntax "post accept all" to accept all parcels at the post office. (Miriam) * If you have not chosen a default reward with the "house setreward" command, the game will automatically pick a random reward to spend your remaining house points on when house points reset. (Valor) * Death field has been made a little bit stronger, so that it's stronger than wail of the banshee. (Indrid) * The faux delevel command will now tell you in one line all of the currencies needed to delevel the item instead of telling you one line at a time if you're missing any. (Miriam) * I noticed a small bug with fishing where it would say that a fish ate the last of the chum sometimes followed by another fish taking a bite. That's been fixed, and there are now a couple of different messages to signal that the chum is gone.

* Player shops that have been empty for 180 days will now be automatically closed. Shops that have been inactive, due to no purchases and no wares added, will be purged after 360 days. Any remaining items will not be returned, as there is no place to store them. Tracking starts today, so inactive things will start being cleared out in July of this year. (Casslyn) * When the timer reaches 0 for tree taps, it will sit there with the resin in the pail, and once you get the resin out, it will restart the timer and begin accumulating resin again. * I added a default reset message when an area resets, for those areas that do not have a custom reset message yet. * Sacrificing items that can be redeemed will now reward the full amount instead of cutting the cost in half. (Valor) * Tree taps are accessible account wide (the maximum of 5 taps is also now an account wide limitation.) (Cupcake) * Brewed potions can now be restrung for gold just like crafted items. (Maerius) * Quest coins are now claimed instead of inventory locked. * Aurablast now grabs the vulnerability that the target is most vulnerable to and deals that damage type, instead of picking a random vulnerability. (Kaeldrys) * Offering pilgrimages will now split the list of items between the ones that you still need to find and the ones that you are carrying. Items will be removed from the list when they have been placed in the basket. * The crafting inventory when you type "craft inventory" is now alphabetized. (Sielea) * The toggle runsafe now has an optional level argument. Setting your RunSafe Level to 5 allows you to enter areas whose minimum level is no more than 5 levels higher than your current level. Typing toggle list will show you how many levels above your current level you can safely enter. (Valor)
