Subject: Summer Solstice, New Prayer Bonus, Nokova Island
Posted by Aelyn  —  Fri Jun 19 14:04:48 2026
* You can now look at other players to see if you've recently drenched them, so you'll know whether it's worth drenching them again. The same feature has been added for the egging event. Thanks to Iridescence for the idea! * You can now type "fill all.balloon" to fill all balloons at once! (Ayla) * New house point prayer bonus for errands! (Kaiya) * The to the death setting for colosseum now works for every mode and can be toggled at any time, including after you have started fighting. * Deleted the Hillock Hills handbook and migrated the information that was in the handbook into the guide command. Thank you Aura for giving feedback on the newbie area! Went through and added more hints :).
Subject: Sound Pack Update
Posted by Aelyn  —  Thu Jun 18 15:06:04 2026
* 5 new kitty socials added each with a sound! Mewsweet, mewhello, mewyes, mewno, hiss. :D * Replaced the sound for inviting someone to a group/joining a group. Also replaced the sounds for waypoint appearing and vanishing. * Added three new sounds for the air social, the alarm from the alarm command going off, finding a Luminati tile, entering a room with a sick mob that healers must heal for an errand, being in a room when someone enters via portal or nexus. * Fixed the missing sound for giving an item.

Posted by Aelyn  —  Wed Jun 17 16:41:29 2026

(Vraekar) * Fixed locate object spell ‑ it was crashing the game in some rare situations. * Added back the to the death option for the colosseum. Command: colosseum death.
Subject: Monster Colosseum Revamp
Posted by Aelyn  —  Tue Jun 16 17:22:19 2026
On my quest to improve the performance of the game, I've rewritten Monster Colosseum in C++, so it no longer relies on mob programs among other things. What's new: * You will now see +800 experience! instead of "You gain 800 experience." when you gain experience, to be more in line with other bonuses and less verbose. * You will no longer see global colosseum messages that are about yourself. * Objects that can only be purchased a limited number of times now show the limit directly under the object name in the shop list. The same applies to objects that have requirements. * All colosseum syntaxes are now part of a new command: colosseum. * colosseum exchange: exchange points from a higher difficulty mode into a lower one at the service center. * colosseum upgrade: upgrade colosseum armor at the service center using points. * colosseum reset: reset your cooldown timer for a mode using mudpies. * colosseum status: check your current mode, round, and cooldown timers. * colosseum currency: check your current point balances for each mode from anywhere in the world. This replaces the card object. * colosseum fight: replaces saying "I'm ready" to the moderator. * colosseum mode: replaces saying the mode name to Brutus. * Removed the pet stabling option. You can simply force your pets to sit to leave them behind. * If you type "flee confirm" in combat in the colosseum, it will be guaranteed to succeed on the first attempt. * Mission 230 will be disabled until the next copyover, because I forgot to update that. :P I tested thoroughly but it was a big update, so please let me know if there are any bugs. Enjoy!
Subject: catsnacks mission in tails town
Posted by Darkbuilder  —  Fri Jun 12 15:53:02 2026
Tails town has long existed as the e per‑fect place for Erion's feline population. Unfortunately, keeping it that way takes a lot of work and planning, which aren't exactly the feline's strong points. RAwowyn of the cat caf is running into supply problems, and given the appetites of cats you can guess those will be serious ones. Any adventurers keen on fishing, crafting and farming should seek her out and volunteer their assistance; indeed anyone knowing the appetite's of cats can probably guess what is required. Thanks again for the coding assistance from Aelyn on this one.
Subject: New haven lake mission, the frogmaid's lost children.
Posted by Darkbuilder  —  Fri Jun 12 15:47:59 2026
Frogmen have always been a strange, alien and insula people. With a language that's incomprehensible to outsiders, and little inclination or interest in the world beyond their marshes, they have existed for centuries. Indeed, some elvish scholars have postulated that they aren't even sentient, and the primitive buildings they engage in are no more a sign of civilization than the nests of birds. Yet, things such as grief, loss and a mother's love for her children are universal. A disaster has befallen one of the Frogmaid's of haven lake, and with the alien disinterest of her own people, she's willing to ask an outsider for help. Any adventurers of level 25 or higher should seek her out in haven lake, and peace follower's don't worry, since no slaying is involved. Thanks again to Erion for the coding wizardry necessary to add this new mission.
Subject: Healers Errand, Newbies Errand
Posted by Aelyn  —  Wed Jun 10 15:53:38 2026
* Healers errand: Hielach in the fountain courtyard now offers a healing errand. Stricken patients are scattered along the highways within your level range, each with a different ailment. Travel out and heal them using the heal or psionic energy spells, the salve or mend skills, a potion carrying one of those spells, or crafted bandages. Once tended, a patient recovers and is on their way. Small heals 4 patients, medium 8, large 12. A huge thank you to Darkbuilder for all of the creative writing involved in this errand! * Newbies errand has been updated: Keyqua's exam now takes a size. A small errand is 1 question, medium 2, and large 3 (you'll never be asked more than you have left). Each correct answer banks house points and moves you straight to the next question until the errand is done. A wrong answer ends the errand and starts a cooldown. Finishing the entire exam still grants the bonus reward. Plain 'errand request' still defaults to a single question. (Azalea/Monkey)
Subject: Temple Veritas Music, Bug Fixes/Performance Updates
Posted by Aelyn  —  Fri Jun 5 10:01:46 2026
* Thanks to Aura for creating a song for Temple Veritas. * Fixed the crafted emblem and tattoo so they are no longer armor but instead accessory. * I reworked how the game searches for mobs by name across the world (used by spells like gate, scry, and similar). The new system uses an index that lets the game jump straight to mobs matching what you typed, instead of checking every single creature in the world one by one. As the game grows and more mobs exist, this keeps those spells fast and prevents lag. One side effect: targeting world‑wide searches by the special @ keywords (like cast gate 2.@mob) no longer works. Those @ selectors match mobs by traits rather than by name, so they can't use the new name index. Supporting them would mean reintroducing the slow, check‑everything approach that the change was meant to eliminate, which would bring the lag right back as the world grows. For that reason I'm keeping it as is. You can still use @ keywords normally for targeting things in your own room, and world‑searches by actual mob name work the same as always. The same change applies to global object searches.
Subject: Who Toggles, Hypothermia, Combat Performance
Posted by Aelyn  —  Wed Jun 3 13:58:52 2026
* Targets immune to cold are now unaffected by hypothermia. (Ulf) * Minor update: when mobs die, updating the seasonal/overall leaderboards and your daily challenges is deferred until slightly after the mob has died. I uncoupled this so when mobs die the code doesn't have as much to process, decreasing combat lag spikes. * Added 'who toggle (<option>)' so you can customize which flags you want to see on the who screen if things feel cluttered. If you use the 'who <option>' to filter the who screen, it will ignore your who toggles and show all flags.
Subject: Sigils, Vault, Scrabble
Posted by Aelyn  —  Sun May 31 09:15:35 2026
* Sigil rewards now handle inventory space properly. When purchasing sigils with house points, the game checks whether you can carry each one before charging you it stops once you're out of room and only deducts house points for the sigils you actually received, rather than charging full price and dropping the overflow on the ground. For automatic default rewards (claimed when the month rolls over), all sigils are placed directly into your inventory regardless of carry space, so you'll always receive what you earned even if you're over your normal limit. (Valerian/Katenka) * Vault sorting has been expanded. In addition to the existing 'vault sort low' and 'vault sort high', you can now use 'vault sort alpha' to sort alphabetically, 'vault sort type <item type>' to bring all items of a given type to the top, 'vault sort extra <flag>' to bring items with a given extra flag to the top, and 'vault sort effect <effect name>' to bring items with a given spell or effect (such as enchanted or etched items) to the top. (Ulf) * Scrabble words now include gods names and I also added house names. (Slink) * Castle of Darkness and The Hollow have been relocated to Stormy Straits Highway since they were a little bit out of the level range of their previous highway location. Also fixed the issue with Velkara pilgrimages loading the offender inside an area off the highway which is outside of your level range.
Subject: Blueprint QoL Update, Database Fix
Posted by Aelyn  —  Sat May 30 09:48:17 2026
* Blueprint updates: You can now specify how many of an item to craft when adding it to a blueprint, using 'blueprint add <item> <level> <keyword> <amount> <set name>'. You can also change the amount after the fact with the new 'blueprint amount <item number> <amount> <set name>' command. The amount is subject to the same advanced crafting skill limits as normal crafting. Materials are calculated correctly based on the amount set. Also increased the maximum number of items you can add to a blueprint by +1 to accommodate belt accessories. (Anatak) * Fixed the bugs with searching for a specific weapon type with the database command. Also, the database will now show objects that are lying on the ground. It will also show objects in hidden rooms as long as you have been in the room before. And it includes mobs in instances, so the newbie weapons on Nokova Island are included for example :). * Added a spam toggle 'hps' if seeing the house point gains is too spammy. (Lottie)
Subject: New Craftable, Trading Bees, Database Improvements
Posted by Aelyn  —  Fri May 29 13:19:55 2026
* Added a new craftable item that is worn in the belt accessory slot: a belt pouch (a container). (Ulf) * You might also notice that you see the number of house points you earn now with each house point gaining activity. If this feels spammy, please let me know by posting an idea note suggesting a spam toggle. Also, fixed the issue with errands telling you the wrong amount of house points earned. It was showing the amount before the house point multiplier was applied, but still giving the correct amount. * You can now trade 3 worker bees for 1 queen. I also added a fun sound for trading. (Miriam) * Advanced lapidary now increases the number of gems you can melt at a time, with the benefit scaling up as you improve the skill and doubling the maximum (18) at full mastery. * The database command has been updated. You can now set search preferences which are saved when you log out. It will also now list items that are sold in shops that you can see. Use 'db prefs' to set your preferences. You can filter by level range, wear slot, item type, weapon type, stat, weapon damage, and spell. Once your preferences are set, type 'db search' to run the search. Type 'db prefs clear' to reset them. This was a bigger update so there may be bugs, but hopefully working as intended.
Subject: Mission Reminder, Crash Fix
Posted by Aelyn  —  Fri May 29 08:16:44 2026
We crashed overnight and I fixed that this morning. One small update that came in with the fix is: New command: mission reminder list. This shows all your active reminders along with their current status, including whether you are on the mission now, whether it is ready to repeat, or how much time is left before you can do it again. Thanks to Ulf for the idea!
Subject: Diamond Bunnies, Hypothermia, Repeatable Mission Reminders
Posted by Aelyn  —  Thu May 28 15:42:09 2026
* The event info for the Pinata Palooza now gives the area name next to the room name. (Kaeldrys) * Pinatas should take fewer hits now to break open :D. * Added a fun little bubble banner to the top of the webpage to announce our anniversary month every May :). * To make the warmth spell more useful, it can now cancel hypothermia and makes you immune to it as well. The hypothermia debuff that one of the mobs from Aura's pilgrimage gives now lasts for 60 seconds instead of 3 minutes. (Ariallis) * You can now put color inside of your character name in your limit break message. (Kaeldrys) * New mission command: mission reminder <vnum>. This sets a reminder for any repeatable mission. You'll be notified when it is ready to be done again. Type 'mission reminder <number>' again to remove it. Reminders persist between sessions and will also notify you on login (within 10 seconds) if the mission became available while you were offline. Added a sound for this as well as a guide page that will pop up after completing a repeatable mission. (Medivh) * New bunny type: diamond! These are quite rare but they give a good amount of faith points. These bunnies are only visible to those who follow a god.
Subject: Struggle, Rescue, Heat Metal, etc.
Posted by Aelyn  —  Wed May 27 08:19:24 2026
* Deleted the keepalive toggle. With the recent changes I made, you should not get disconnected due to inactivity. You may still get disconnected due to your internet connection, however. * In an effort to improve performance on runto, mob sounds will no longer trigger for every room in the runto path, just in the destination room. * Heat metal can no longer remove mind hand weapons. (Sireyeh) * Struggle can now break you out of root. (Kaeldrys) * When you rescue a player, that rescue will hold up to 30 seconds (10 rounds) once rescue is fully mastered, before the mob can switch targets again. (Kaeldrys)
Subject: New Nokova Island Crafting Mission
Posted by Aelyn  —  Tue May 26 10:18:32 2026
The small settlement on Nokova Island has always been considered an unlucky place, but the hardy souls who chose to make it their home refused to be driven away, that is, until a monstrous storm swept in and flooded the island, leaving much of it in ruins. The villagers have resolved to stay and rebuild, but they are stretched thin and still reeling from the disaster. A village elder named Beyla is coordinating the reconstruction effort and is in desperate need of building materials. Someone with a strong back and a willingness to help would need to craft sturdy walls and roof tiles and deliver them to her so the work can begin. Crafters looking to put their skills to good use will feel right at home with this one. Thank you so much to Miriam for writing this mission!
Subject: New mission, the milk of Kindness
Posted by Darkbuilder  —  Tue May 26 09:22:48 2026
Just because Shrond, the peace‑loving half‑orc has forsworn violence and conflict, that doesn't mean he won't be affected by it. In this case, a particularly violent disagreement between two mages has left Erion without a milkman, and Shrond is looking for someone else to fill the position. Unfortunately, the job won't be easy, since it'll mean crafting the milkbottles, finding a cow to fill them, and then delivering them to various shopkeepers around the realm, though any adventurers up for the challenge should definitely speak to Shrond in Hillock hills. Like all of Shrond's missions, this is a perfect task for any adventurers following the path of peace. Thanks to Aelyn for the coding wizardry necessary to add both the mission, and the newly craftable milkbottles.
Subject: Newbies Errand, Craftable Milk Bottles
Posted by Aelyn  —  Mon May 25 17:45:41 2026
* Newbies errand is live! The Newbies errand is an exam of 100 randomizedbquestions given by Keyqua. A series of multiple choice questions about the game are presented one at a time, each with four possible answers. Use 'errand solve <a/b/c/d>' to submit your answer. Each correct answer earns house points and brings you closer to completing the exam. Wrong answers incur a cooldown before you can attempt another question. Your progress is saved between sessions, so you can work through the exam at your own pace. Once you have answered all of your questions correctly, you will receive a bonus reward and the satisfaction of having completed the newbie exam! :D A big thanks to Aura and Kaeldrys for the help in adding questions to the exam, and Darkbuilder for the awesome errand dialogues! * New craftable: milk bottles. To be used in an upcoming mission! You can fill them with milk from a milk pail or a fountain of milk. (Kaiya)
Subject: Colors, Player Killing, Bugfix
Posted by Aelyn  —  Fri May 22 14:10:57 2026
* {* can be used to get a random xterm color. (Kaeldrys) * If you do not have xterm enabled, xterm colors will translate to standard fallback colors. * Updated the houseinfo command to improve the format of the the information sheet and include the mob who gives errands for the house. * Player vs. Player combat has never been a strong fit for Erion, and keeping it balanced has proven more trouble than it's worth. I've begun removing the Player Killing houses and will leave the arena in place for now, though it remains unbalanced. The stronghold areas previously tied to PK houses will be repurposed in the future. Just wanted to keep everyone in the loop. * Fixed the bug where the Slayers house errand would load mobs in shrines on the highway.
Subject: Xterm Colors
Posted by Aelyn  —  Thu May 21 12:43:48 2026
* New account‑wide toggle 'xterm'. Enable this to see 256 color. The command 'color xterm' will show you what the colors are and the codes to use them. {(###) is the code that you would use for the new color codes, for example {(212) for a bright pink‑coral. For easy use I also added {p {P {o {O for pink and orange. Note: {p {P {o {O require xterm enabled to show their true colors, otherwise they fall back to magenta and yellow. * Made some performance updates to reduce lag spikes in a few areas of the code.
