Underworld Den

Though perhaps not as grand or renowned as the halls of Stone Forge or Bandell, Undertown was once a fairly prosperous dwarven city. Not far from the major city of Crag Fell, Undertown served as a hub for dwarven merchants and traders, boasting an extremely mixed population of humans, gnomes and other races along with its dwarves. All that changed 60 years ago when the plague struck Crag Fell, slaying almost every dwarf in the city. The other residents mostly packed up and left, all but for a few scattered remnants. With trade falling short, residents increasingly took to crime to survive, crimes which attracted the worst of elements, ogres, trolls, even the occasional giant. Indeed, it rapidly became known that for any Nere Dowell, Undertown was the place to go, earning the town the more sinister name of "Underworld Den". In recent years, the ruins of the once proud town have been gripped in a pitched battle between two equally lawless gangs, the trollish head bashers to the north, and the ogrish bone crushers to the south. The only good thing about this arrangement is that the trolls and ogres are so busy fighting each other, they don't bother with petty things like highway robbery, though should either gang gain ascendancy over the other and look to expand their brutality outside the town, the prospect will be grim indeed.
