Level 199

Whispering Hollow was once the pride of the region, a grand manor house presided over by Lord Jux and his lady, Xilla, their halls always warm with music and the smell of good cooking. All of that ended the night their dearest guest, a young man beloved by the wizard who often called the manor his second home, was found lying dead in the study, a wound through his chest that no one could explain. Grief unhinged the wizard, and in his sorrow he laid a curse upon the entire estate rather than see it move on without his friend. Lord Jux and Lady Xilla wander their ruined halls still, undead and unaging, along with the cook, the butler, and even Jux's own grandfather, bound now into the workings of the hall clock. At the heart of it all beats a thing that should not beat, pinned atop a pedestal, endlessly retelling the tale of the curse to anyone who will listen, and to anyone brave enough to help lift it. Beyond the manor's grounds lies its cemetery, where the dead of Whispering Hollow are laid to rest, if rest is the word for it. Mourners still walk its paths in an endless, grief-stricken procession, and the lost dead wander among the headstones, unable to find the graves meant to hold them.
