| Description |
Thatcher leans wearily on the well, his bad leg and mounting orders from
neighboring farms leaving him unable to keep his coop running the way he'd
like. Word has spread that he can still raise a fine bird, and now folks
are lining up for chicks to build their own flocks with, more than his hands
alone can manage. He asks for help hatching ten healthy chicks by setting
eggs in the nesting boxes and seeing them through with patience, wherever
that work happens to get done. It's calm, hands off farm labor, and
Thatcher is grateful to anyone willing to help him keep his word to the
people counting on him. |
