You searched for prepare food drinks
1. prepare food drinks
Syntax: prepare <recipe> <amount> (<ingredient1> <ingredient2>)
prepare *<recipe> ... (uses tableware from your pantry)
prepare <recipe> missing
prepare cancel
prepare state
To cook something, you must first have collected the recipe ‑‑ see the
cookbook helpfile for how recipes are learned and what a given recipe
requires. Once you know it, 'prepare <recipe>' begins preparing it, taking
all the necessary ingredients from your pantry up front. An amount lets you
prepare several at once, and naming up to two optional ingredients decides
what buff the finished dish will carry. Using 'prepare <recipe> missing'
will list any ingredients that you are missing to prepare the recipe.
Adding an asterisk before the recipe name, as in 'prepare *coffee', takes
a matching piece of tableware (a cup, mug, bowl, or plate) from your pantry ‑‑
see 'cookbook recipe <name>' to check what a given recipe uses. Using
tableware grants an extra 1000 experience per item prepared, and adds one
extra bite or sip to each dish. Tableware is not sold by any merchant in
Erion but it can be crafted or purchased in Merchants' Marketplace.
Preparing something is not a single command ‑‑ it unfolds over several
steps, each requiring its own verb (add, chop, knead, bake, and so
on). After each prepare or step command, you will be told exactly what to
do next; simply follow the instructions in order. Some steps need a
particular tool in your culinary kit, and some need a fire, oven, or other
fixture in the room.
The command 'prepare cancel' abandons the attempt entirely and refunds
every ingredient and piece of tableware taken. Using the command 'prepare
state' will tell you which step you are on and how long you have left.
Eating restores hit points and drinking restores mana. How much depends
chiefly on your own constitution rather than on the dish.
Where the food came from matters as well:
Bought from a shop the least
Roasted over a campfire a little more
Prepared by a player more still, rising with its quality
The finer the dish, the more it restores, and the amount rises with your own
level rather than with the food. An exquisite dish restores roughly four
fifths of your level in hit points, a good one three fifths, an average one
two fifths, and a poor one a fifth. A drink restores mana on the same scale.
This puts a well‑made meal within reach of a healer's spell, though never
quite matching it. Even a poor dish prepared through the cooking system
restores more than anything a merchant sells.
Ingredients that you had to make yourself, such as butter churned from
milk or flour crushed from wheat, are worth more experience than ones you
simply foraged or bought. Yeast and chocolate paste, the most laborious
of all to produce, are worth the most. Cooking with additional
ingredients using the advanced cooking skill boosts the experience
gained.
